Rico´s first guitar was a gift from his parents for his 10th birthday.
At the age of 14 he was the youngest member of the folk ensemble "KOCO RACIN" and toured through Germany, Italy, Switzerland and France.
His performances at the international Folk festivals in Nizza, Cuori and Kassel left an unforgettable impression on the young musician.
He dreamed of his own band. His dream became reality when he founded the band TARTIF where he not only was the singer and bass player, but also had the opportunity to write his first songs. 
At the age of 18 he had his first acknowledgements as a songwriter followed by studio sessions.
Two years later he had his first professional engagements in Stockholm (Sweden).
At 21 he moved to Australia for one year where he played in well known clubs in Melbourne and Victoria.
He became friends with international artists such as Collin Hay from MEN AT WORK and Wendy Stappleton.
After returning to Macedonia he studied at the university "Kiril i Metodi in Skopje where he completed his geography studies at the age of 27. Always keeping in mind that he wanted to be a solo artist he toured through Europe with the band FULLMOON.
At the age of 30 he gave himself a birthday present and changed his name into RICO SANCHEZ and toured through Europe with his exceptional voice. 
Fascinated by the sound of the Rumba Catalan (made famous by the Gypsy Kings) he began to compose his songs in this unique style.
1995 he released his first solo album UN DESEO. The single &DE QUIEN ERES was number one for eight weeks in the Macedonian charts.
This success led to TV-Shows, interviews and professionally organized tours. His second album "FIESTA was released in 1999.
Besides numerous concerts in Poland Rico Sanchez & The Gipsies performed at the biggest summer festival of Estonia TERE PÄRNU SUVI, the CHALENGE MEGA PARTY 2005 in Offenburg (Germany), the PRE NEW YEARS EVE PARTY 2005 in Friedberg (Germany) and last but not least the
GYPSIES FESTIVAL CIECHOCIENEK.
This concert was a live broadcast by polish TV and seen by over 10 Million viewers.
The success of the concerts next to famous artist such as "GAZEBO" - IN-GRID" JöRGEN DREWS" DJ ÖTZI" URBAN EGO"
THE SCORPIONS, AL DI MEOLA, ROBBIN GIBB, LONDON BEAT led to engagements throughout the world.
